Don't Make Me A Fool - Foreign Exchange

  • You don't need much more to have a track on heavy rotation for an hour or so. This smooth track has some luxurious pad chords as the bed for tight drums and an understated reverb at the end of each final snare along with a nice flanged piano and a 'neptune-like' sound. The bass is so low and just gives the song extra depth.

I LOVE the writing on this track. The lyrics are beautiful and spaced out to let the instrumentation breathe. The harmonies are always what kills it on Foreign Exchange tracks. Everything that makes Neo-Soul what it is. Phonte is a truly gifted artist.

With his 'slum village-like' flow in the MC section and beautiful adlibs sung toward the end, what more more do you need. Speakers up, tweak your bass and press play!

This is taken off of the Authenticity album.
